The cricket fans, experts and the players are currently unaware about MS Dhoni’s international future. The veteran wicket-keeper batsman was last seen in the national colours during the semi-final encounter VS New Zealand in the 2019 World Cup where he scored a half-century as well, but failed to take India over the finishing line. After the 2019 World Cup, Dhoni asked the national selectors for a break from the game.
He was not considered for the limited-overs series against West Indies and South Africa. The national selection committee revealed that Rishabh Pant is currently being groomed as the No.1 wicket-keeper across the three formats. MS Dhoni’s future with the national team is the most talked topic in the cricketing world.
After India’s stunning 3-0 Test series victory against South Africa, Virat Kohli was asked whether Sourav Ganguly discussed MS Dhoni’s future with him. Kohli replied that he congratulated former Indian captain for becoming the new BCCI president, but never talked regarding Dhoni and he is pretty sure about that. Kohli stated that he will be meeting Ganguly whenever he tells him to.
“I congratulated him [Sourav Ganguly]. It’s great that he has become BCCI president. He will get in touch with me when he has to. I will go meet him when he tells me to. He has not spoken to me about that (MS Dhoni’s future). I am sure,” mentioned Virat Kohli.
After India’s victory over South Africa in the third and final Test match, former Indian captain MS Dhoni was seen in the team dressing in his hometown, Ranchi. Dhoni’s picture with head coach Ravi Shastri went viral on the social media.
