Despite not having played any competitive cricket since the end of India’s campaign in the 2019 World Cup, MS Dhoni is still the centerpoint of focus. India’s wicket-keeper conundrum in the limited-overs format depends highly on the availability of the veteran cricketer. However, there is still no clarity on when would Dhoni return to international cricket or will speak anything regarding his future.
Since making himself unavailable for the limited-overs series against West Indies, South Africa and Bangladesh, there has been a big suspense over any update on the senior Indian wicket-keeper batsman’s future in international cricket. The selectors as well as the team management are currently backing Rishabh Pant as the first choice wicket-keeper in ODIs and T20Is.
BCCI president Sourav Ganguly had earlier noted that there is absolute clarity regarding MS Dhoni’s future. Ganguly revealed that there are some things that cannot be said openly on the public platform. During the 88th Annual General Meeting of the BCCI, Ganguly was once again quizzed about whether Dhoni will be participating in next year’s T20 World Cup or not.
“Please ask Dhoni,” Sourav Ganguly replied when a journalist asked about the possibility of MS Dhoni playing the World T20 2020.
