Pakistan started their innings on Day4 of the second and final Test match with the scorecard reading 39 for 3 after Australia asked them to follow on. The pair of Shan Masood and Asad Shafiq resurrected the Pakistan innings with a fine partnership of 103 runs for the fourth wicket. Masood contributed with 68 runs that included eight fours and one six before getting dismissed by Nathan Lyon.
Shafiq also got out pretty soon after scoring 57 runs off 112 balls as Lyon picked up his second wicket of the day. The duo comprising of Mohammad Rizwan and Iftikhar Ahmed then added 47 runs for the sixth wicket partnership before a rampant batting collapse rattled Pakistan’s lower batting order. Lyon registered his 16th five-wicket haul as Pakistan bundled out for 239 runs in 82 overs.
With this victory, Australia registered a spectacular 2-0 series whitewash over Pakistan and gained another 60 points in the ICC World Test Championship. David Warner was named both the Man of the Match as well as the Man of the Series for his sensational 335-run knock in the first innings and compiling a total of 489 runs in the two-match Test series.
