After a pretty competitive ODI series against Australia at home, the Virat Kohli-led Indian team will now be travelling to New Zealand to play 5 T20Is, 3 ODIs and 2 Test matches starting from January 24. The host New Zealand team is one of those sides that have troubled India in the shortest format of the game in the past instances. In their last tour to New Zealand, India won the five-match ODI series 4-1 but lost the T20I series by a 2-1 margin.
During the pre-match press conference, Virat Kohli noted that the visiting team will surely be taking confidence from their performance in the last tour. Kohli mentioned that being positive about their game helped them a lot the last time they travelled to New Zealand. The Indian captain revealed that they have come here with the thinking to take the toss factor out of the context and want to do well in each of the departments.
“We are taking a lot of confidence from our performance last year. We were very positive in how we played, sure of what we wanted to do. The thing about playing away is if you can put the home team under pressure, you can enjoy your cricket,” quoted Virat Kohli.
“We want to bat well when we bat first and in case we’re defending a low total, we should be able to do that as well. We have taken the toss out of context, and we’re as prepared as possible to do something the opposition asks us to do,” he added.
