Hardik Pandya truly stole the show with some astonishing power-hitting in the last night’s match-winning performance against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. The Mumbai Indians all-rounder first played a blistering cameo of 25 runs off just 8 balls to lead his team towards a strong first innings finish. Hardik then bowled a remarkable fast bowling spell to claim three crucial wickets at an impressive economy rate. For his fantastic performance, Hardik was adjudged as the Man of the Match.
His confidence is right up there
After the 37-run loss, CSK head coach Stephen Fleming addressed the media reporters in the post-match press conference and revealed that he is a big fan of Hardik Pandya. Fleming praised the MI all-rounder for his sensational power-hitting during the death overs stage in the last few games this season. He reckoned that now the matter is up for the rest of the oppositions on how to stop Pandya’s onslaught.
“I am a massive fan (of Pandya), I think he is a wonderful player. His confidence is up, looks like he has a good thing going with what he is doing at the death. Plans should be now for teams to combat that. We were happy with what we were trying to do but executed it poorly,” Stephen Fleming was quoted as saying.
He is a quality player
Fleming termed the right hander as a quality player who is great asset for both Mumbai Indians as well as for Team India. The CSK coach noted that it is very difficult to keep a quality cricketer like him out of the game.
“He is a quality player. I think he is one of Mumbai’s key weapons and one of India’s key players going forward. If you keep him out of the game you often go on to win. But today with both bat and ball he was excellent,” the CSK head coach added.
