IPL 2019, Match 18- CSK Vs KXIP, Preview: Kings Battle For The Top Leaderboard Spot

In the first game of the crisp Super Saturday double-header, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will be hosting Kings XI Punjab at the M Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. The MS Dhoni-led team are coming into this game after conceding their first ever loss in the season at the hands of Mumbai Indians (MI). While, the visitors will be coming off from a sensational, unbelievable victory against Delhi Capitals (DC).

It is seen various times that victories do cover up the deficiencies and impotence, which was somewhat happening with Chennai. The defending champions started their title defence with three remarkable victories and after just one loss, it looks like the CSK team management have a lot of things to ponder about especially in the batting department. All of their three top order batters haven't played a single standout match-winning innings this season.

The same is the case with the middle-order as they could not get much of opportunities to prove their mettle. The batting depth is also an area of concern for them and they need to address these issues in order to continue their prolific run in the tournament. However, barring the previous game, the CSK bowlers have done an exceptional job this year and they will be eyeing to continue the good work in this game as well.

On the other hand, after an astonishing victory, the Ravichandran Ashwin-led team would be very much high on confidence. However, much like CSK, they too have some batting concerns which need to be settled pretty quickly. KL Rahul who was the star performer last season, has so far failed to leave his mark and that is definitely hurting them. They are not getting the same explosive opening starts from him.

The middle-order batters have also not performed in accordance with the expectations of the franchise and they would want to put up an improved performance in the upcoming game. While the bowlers will be feeling quite assured after a brilliant effort in the last match. They would now be hoping to bring in some consistency in their performance.
